The challenge in realising the work was in choosing the right combination of elements. I had chosen my unique band and inspirational song but I took my time identifying which ‘hand made’ elements I would use to realise the piece.
The Nine Inch Nails album, ‘The Fragile’ explored issues of nature; life and death, strength and fragility, destruction and regeneration. These themes were my departure point. The ’final’ hand-made mask, made of skeleton leaf, was for me was the perfect creative translation for what I wanted to communicate.
